I went on the Spring Retreat with the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild a few weeks ago and had a total blast! I got major progress on a quilt top and finished a tote for the fair!

There was a larger representation of modern quilts being made there this time, which is exciting. You get a lot of t-shirt quilts this time of year with everyone graduating and I only saw one this time!

Here are some of my favorites:

This was made by my friend Rachel. She made it as a block of the month from Stitched with Love. They used the very excellent Vintage Quilt Revival: 22 Modern Designs from Classic Blocks.

An action shot of Cynthia’s quilt! This is for a guy and I like the scrappy vibe of it. An interesting neutral as well!

This is another one of Cynthia’s. The pattern is Fire Drill from Elizabeth Hartman‘s book, Modern Patchwork: 12 Quilts to Take You Beyond the Basics.

This HST quilt is Carol’s and she was arranging it on the design wall. This also had an interesting neutral that caught my eye.

imageThis is another one of Rachel’s but I did not catch the name of the pattern. Very clean and crisp!

Beth completed the binding on this Metro Medallion by Sew Kind of Wonderful.

Ashley’s cool plus quilt had some unexpected pieced blocks in it. So many possibilities!

Angie was working on this color-blocked improv and make so much progress! I love the fussy cut little bits she put in there.

imageThis is part of my Tessellation Quilt (pattern by Alison Glass) that I am totally stoked about. I finished the top at retreat but had to add another row to make it as big as needed. I had tears in my eyes when I finished this because I’ve been working on it for months!
